The English Inn of Charlottesville

This is now my favorite hotel. It's the most reasonably priced in Charlottesville, has a great location, near stores, restaurants, UVA, and near enough to the freeway, but not too near. It's small and feels intimate, but big enough for all amenities. A good breakfast and helpful staff. I thought I'd forgotten my power supply in my room when I checked out, so I called the front desk. She remembered me, went up to the room but couldn't find it, so she called me back. Of course I'd put it in the wrong pocket of my backpack. She was very pleasant when I apologized for her inconvenience. I've stayed there before and will again, and recommended it to my colleague at UVA for his out-of-town guests.

The English Inn of Charlottesville is a true diamond in the rough. Tucked away off Emmett Street, it is a quaint and charming gem of a place! The location is strategically convenient - close to UVA, shopping, dining, Church - easy to get in and out of, just steps away from Bodo's Bagels. The staff - front desk, housekeeping, dining room - are quietly pleasant and professional. Exceptional and generous hot and cold breakfast choices, including an array of beverages, fruit - all beautifully presented and quite delicious. The rooms are lovely, clean, comfortable. Excellent Wifi service. Beautiful indoor swimming pool. I was traveling for work, and my stay at the English Inn made the whole week much easier due to all the wonderful amenities and the attentive staff. I will definitely return to the English inn on my next visit to Charlottesville.

This was our second stay. The first was at the beginning of my wife's cancer journey. While there was a fair amount of renovation going on at the time, it provided east access to the UVA Medical Center. The highlight of this stay came at checkout. We met Gail Sanders, a grandmother figure. She was crocheting shaws, and we told her of our journey. She promptly provided one to my wife. I inquired about her to staff who knew who I was talking about and the staff all love her. She is the reason we're back after several years. The renovations are now done, and everything is awesome. We met Erica Hall this morning, the breakfast host. See was very personable and helpful. Breakfast was outstanding for a buffet. I would recommend this hotel for any reason that brings you to Charlottesville.

The facility is charming and close to the hospital. It is also within walking distance of many shops and restaurants so if you're staying multiple days there is plenty to do and see. They provide a lovely breakfast, have a adequate exercise room and have lots of charming common areas to relax in if you don't want to spend all your downtime in your room.

We had a spacious one-bedroom apartment with a kitchenette. Breakfast had a good assortment of hot and cold foods, but as in most hotels in the US, there was nothing except fruit for a gluten-free vegan. Also, they use plastic utensils and disposable bowls, plates, and cups, which creates a tremendous amount of waste every day. Since we had a kitchen in our room, I was able to bring my own bowl and spoon for the gluten-free granola and oat milk I brought with me so as not to create any waste myself. A kitchen staff member kindly gave me ice for my water bottle. The front desk staff was helpful as well.
